Left Home!

Hi everyone.  This is Cam’s mom and I just wanted to let you all know that he left E’town today and headed to Louisville.  He will swear in tomorrow and then head off to Great Lakes.  He is very excited about getting started so it is hard to be sad….However, I’m sure I won’t have a problem being sad tomorrow when we see him off at the airport!   He’s the baby but we are so proud of his decision to join the Navy.  When I say HIS decision, I mean his only.  I definitely wasn’t too big on the idea at first but he has convinced me that it is the best thing for him.   Any parents that are reading this, I recommend that you join http://www.navy-parents.com for a ton of  information about boot camp or any other issues you need a resource for.  The people on that site have been where we are and are more than willing to give information or just lend a shoulder.

I’ll post again soon…..comments please!!

Lending Hand

One thing I haven’t given a lot of mention to is all of the help the guys over at the Military.com Forums. The guys over there have helped a huge amount before, and after I joined, and it’s also a good way to stay motivated about the Navy while in DEP- They really know their stuff.

DEP Meeting

This is a really good idea. Had my first (and only) last Tuesday. It gives the recruiters to get a little taste of being an RDC and us DEPPERS a little taste of the Navy PT ways. We got in formation, ran together for 1.5-2 miles singing cadence, which was pretty cool. Then we had PQS, where they’d ask us questions like “What’s your 7th general order?”; if we got it wrong, the whole room got beat. We were all wore out!

Today was my last day at work, so now I’ll have some more time to hang out with the fam and friends… 17 days, and counting =D

Still counting.

22 days. Last night I started a phase of trying to hit the sack at 10PM (2200) and wake up somewhere around 5AM (0500) and I actually woke up on my own at 0430. To my surprise, I’m not tired at all and my mind is kickin’ unlike it has in a while. I’ve got a pot of coffee brewing and a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit in the nuker. I’m going to try and continue this during the week, this way it wont come as such a surprise at RTC. Until next time, check out this formation.

Cold Turkey

The cigarettes are getting thrown out the window on my way to work today, that way I can’t dig them out of the trash =]

I found a great resource that explains why you should quit, how to quit, and how to stay completely independent  of cigarettes. If you’re a smoker, or are planning on quitting, check out THIS LINK!

Four W’s

“Whoa Whoa Whoo Wah” – Borat Sagdiyev

Wow. The reality has forced itself into my head a lot sooner than I had imagined. When I signed my ship date was February 21, 2008 so I requested to leave ASAP once the seat was there for me. Well, the recruiter called today, my wish has been granted. I ship out in 29 days on October 30, 2007. I’m extremely excited and immediately told everyone. I also know a lot of people that have desires for the military, but have that tough decision of a branch. I will post a couple of entries for the next month, and will turn the journalism over to my mom whom I will send specific letters to her for display here.

Be sure and bookmark this blog and check back frequently!
